Ceramic Hand Building Workshop with Raku Firing

This is a 3 hour ceramic hand building workshop where you will be taught some basic hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab building to make a pot from raku clay. The pots are then taken back to my studio to be dried and bisque fired.

You will have the option to come and glaze them and watch them being fired in the Raku kiln (firing takes 1 hour, total time of second part of workshop around 3 hours) before being removed red hot to go into the reduction bin with combustibles where magical changes occur to the glazes producing crackles, metallics, and carbon blacks. The pieces will then be scrubbed clean to reveal their full and often surprising glory!
